Another useful Perk tied to your repair skill is Hand Loader which allows you to make special, and quite useful, ammunition at reloading tables.
There is a fantastic Perk called Jury Rigging (requires 80 or 90 repair, I forget) which allows you to repair weapons and armor from items that are only remotely like them. There is no Armor repair kit so to repair your armor you have to find more like it. They repair whatever weapon you have equipped to a degree based on your Repair skill. The content is not described in full detail on this page. You can't make them until your Repair skill is 50 if I remember correctly. This page lists all armor and clothing in Fallout: New Vegas. You can also find (very rarely) or make Weapon Repair kits. The amount of condition the item gets repaired is based on how high your repair skill is. You can repair items yourself so long as you have another of the same item to use for parts. Repairs are expensive which is why you'll want to put some serious points in your Repair skill no matter what type of character you want to make.
